Hong Kong Electric has been using IKON mechanical padlocks in all the transmission substations for over 30 years. To keep monitoring the transmission facilities, Hong Kong Electric had to use thousands of keyed-alike padlocks. Key control was Hong Kong Electric’s big headache as they need to distribute keys to both their staff and sub-contracted workers. With frequent change of access rights, losing keys was nightmare. It costs Hong Kong Electric a lot of money and time to re-order new keyed-alike padlocks. Security control was another main concern to them.
With years of effort from the PEU team, Hong Kong Electric chooses to upgrade its mechanical system to IKON VERSO CLIQ, a combination of electronic and mechanical security. Hong Kong Electric’s management is impressed by the simple and flexible operation of CLIQ system.
The PEU team in Hong Kong has proposed the IKON VERSO CLIQ system, presented all the product strengths and the supporting they can offer to Hong Kong Electric since 2007. After more than a year of discussion, a trial order, 10 pieces of VERSO CLIQ padlocks, was placed mid last year.
The padlocks were used in Hong Kong Electric System Control Center at an extremely humid and exposed location near the sea. After 6 months of trial, Hong Kong Electric decided to upgrade all the current padlocks at the transmission stations.
Apart from IKON VERSO CLIQ’s product features, Hong Kong Electric is also impressed by the professional technical support by the PEU Team in Hong Kong and the IKON factory. Training to Hong Kong Electric staff has been arranged in prior to the good delivery. All the 3,000 pieces of IKON VERSO CLIQ padlocks will be delivered in phases.
“Fulfilling customers’ needs is always very challenging to salespersons. For this, I would like to thank our teams’ hard work and more importantly the support from the IKON VERSO CLIQ’s technical team.”, says Irene Yip, General Manager, ASSA ABLOY Hong Kong.
